An interesting query from Frank Edwards. He recently acquired his Army Pers records and came across an entry immediately post Staff College (1985) that read “awarded Graduate Diploma in Military Studies”. He does not recall any such award or even a suggestion of one.
This is quite separate from the Graduate Diploma of Strategic Studies awarded from JSSC and the BA (Mil) from UNSW.
Can anyone shed light on this?
Hi David, There was nothing in my pers records about the graduate diploma in military studies which apparently was awarded to C&SC graduates from 2003. Regards, Trevor

I have a (very vague) recollection of there being some discussion about a joint project with Deakin Uni which could lead to a Grad Dip award, but it involved during further study and writing a thesis/report in the year after Staff College. To the best of my memory, it was just a proposal back then in ’85 and there was nothing concrete.

Under the ANU graduates of the Australian Comd & Staff College are awarded Grad Dip Mil & Def Stud. Perhaps they have backdated to the individual services Comd & Staff Colleges.

The Dip Mil Stud was the qualification awarded to RMC graduates before the degrees started.
The qualification for staff college was psc (Passed Staff College).
Otherwise not heard.
I was at C&SC 84 and don’t recall it.
