Our NSW classmates connect via a WhatsApp group called KLINK RMC 68-72. More very sad news was posted yesterday that Larry Park has been informed by his doctors of cancer in his liver and other parts of his body. No further treatment is possible.
Larry is being supported by classmates from 1968 and 1969 – mates for ever. All our thoughts are with Larry, Janice and family.
It is hard for me to find the right words to express myself, but inadequate as this seems, l would like to thank you all for your messages of condolence. Ian’s funeral was a great event that we felt was a fitting testament to the man he was and am so thankful that we were able to share it with so many of you.
I would also like to thank all those who shared Ian’s journey last year. Your support during the year gave both of us a huge lift every time you made contact, either in person or by phone or email, and was very much appreciated.
Now it’s all over l still keep expecting him to walk in the door. I am so thankful that l have moved to our apartment and that Ian was able to live here for his final few weeks, we both love it.
So please don’t lose touch – Ian was, as you all know, a great one for staying in touch, and l intend to keep that going.

The live stream of Callo’s funeral is now available. I’m assuming that if you received the forwarded invitation you can watch it using your own credentials. I have tried to downbload it, but there are costs involved which I need to follow through to confirm. As I understand it, the recording is available for 90 days. Somerville Funerals have confirmed that the start time for Callo’s funeral (12.55) is Queensland time. Thanks to Nev White for the heads up.
I have now received the invitation to the online streaming of Callo’s funeral. I can forward the invitation, but rather than send it to all, could you please let me know if you’d like to receive it. The invitation states that it is from 1.55 to 4.30. It also states that a recording will be available for 90 days after the funeral, so I will look to download it and make it available.
Can I repeat the call for names if you wish to attend the wake after the funeral – by tomorrow (Thursday 24 December) please. This is to assist with getting the catering numbers right. Details are yet to be confirmed, hopefully later today, but initial advice is that the funeral is on Tuesday 29 Dec 2020 at 1.00 pm at Somerville Funeral Chapel, 129 Nerang – Broadbeach Road Nerang followed by a Wake at Vantage High Rise Ross Street, Benowa.
Ian’s son David has requested that those attending let him know, particularly so that numbers for catering for the wake can be passed on to the caterers. Please reply to rmcclassof1972@gmail.com and to john@trustblack.com.au and John will pass on the names to David.

Latest advice that I can find is a max of 2oo attendees: that may change at short notice.
Funerals conducted in a professional venue may be attended by a maximum of 200 people irrespective of the size of the venue.
Private ceremonies performed at private residences can have a maximum of 50 people attend including the service director. Those in public outdoor spaces are capped to 100 people. Up to 200 people may attend if there is a COVID Safe Industry Plan, Checklist or Event Checklist in place.
It is important if you are unwell, that you do not go to a funeral.
A record of names and contact details of each guest must be kept for 56 days to assist in contact tracing if required.
