Phil Newman has passed on the following request from Elph (slightly edited): “One of Elph’s last requests to me regarding his funeral was that there were to be no “lairy shirts” worn. He was seeking a “traditional” funeral in most aspects. So please pass the word to those planning to attend. Keep it conservative men!!

His written request regarding military formality is – “For guests, no medals by request – ie ex-military members do not wear medals. No RSL involvement and no “poppy service” ; no rosemary either.”
