ADFRA Update – March 2020

Trust that everyone is staying safe and ‘socially distant’ – but only physically – as we cope with this weird situation.

Latest update from ADFRA:

You may have seen reference made to a ‘DFRDB CDDA Application Form’ on DFRDB Social Media sites.

I have completed an application to test the CDDA Scheme.  My application, which provides an example of the type of information which may be required, is attached or may be viewed here.

Kind regards,

Herb

Hidden talents

Thanks to John Black for these beautifully shot photos of an event that was very much part of our lives. From 1970, we believe – not sure who the photographer was.

Encouraging update on Callo

John Black has passed on the following message from Barb Callan

Ian’s levels have again come down this fortnight and the doctor is very pleased. Because he has tolerated the chemo they have now increased the dose of all three drugs. We are pleased still a long way to go but everything is moving in the right direction
Pls feel free to share this good news

Gold Coast visitors

Some good news from Callo, in conjunction with some welcome visitors:
On Saturday Rod Allan and John Elphinston travelled down to the Gold Coast to my house for a catch up.  Rod had travelled up from Melbourne to see us all. We were later joined by Graham and Gail Huggins.  Just a great boost to my morale plus catching up and discovering links between the four of us that we had forgotten about.  As I have said before Mates Forever.
Pleased to report I am travelling well with no real side affects from the chemo. All my levels/markers are going in the right direction and my third round of fortnightly chemo is on Tuesday 10 March.  I am confident these good results will continue.

Brisbane catch up

Maurie has posted on Facebook a couple of photos (stolen for this post) of the attendees at the Brisbane catch up on 6 March. Callo and Barb attended ‘virtually’ via a video cross, and Rod Allan made an appearance up from Melbourne. I’m sure a more detailed report will be posted soon (hint!).

Still marching in step – – Norm Goldspink

Thanks to Rick Davies for passing on this snippet, via Colin Green, but I’m not sure where it originated:

A few of us (Les Bienk, Bill Spencer, Tim McKenna, Pete Leahy and me) had coffee with Norm this morning. He’s 93 and a little bowed but otherwise in fine form and clarity of memory.  Lois is not good and is immobile due to recent injuries.  Norm seemed to appreciate our conversation ranging far and wide not just 1971.  I showed him the before and after video from the 45th anniversary and an abbreviated Grad74 movie concentrating on 71-74 and the 25th anniversary that he attended.

Can you pass this news onto the class with best wishes from Norm.

Cheers
Bill
