Long Lunch

From John McNamara:

Friday 25 June – FNQ / SEQ and Northern Rivers Chapter, A small but very select gathering for classmates and partners at The Port Office Hotel was held on Friday. Bob Shaw was in Brisbane to witness The Lions thrash Geelong and then shouting bottles of red for all comers. Around our table we also had Jon Mander-Jones, Elph and Sandy, Peter and Helen Teys, Maurie and Joan and Marg and I . We shared lots of memories this time with a focus on Dunners Athletics .

Bob , Maurie and Peter ( all past jock strappers )  were comparing themselves to one of Dunners best athletes, Rudy Urgang  and their stories of his attributes capturing the girls attention !!!

Like our Sydney brothers we also forgot to get a photo – Silly Billys!

Sydney Classmates Lunch – 11 June 2021

As is the ‘tradition’, Sydney-area based classmates and a couple of ring-ins (the Crans and the Gibsons) met at The Orient Hotel at The Rocks last Friday. Food and company were excellent – and so much of a good time was had that everyone forgot to get a group photograph!

But for the record, the following were there: Bob Blue, Trish & David Cran, John & Roseanne Croxson, Steve & Guiliana Despoges, Chris & Sue Gibson, Gerry & Annette Jones, Peter & Annaliese Lawrence, Peter & Sue Martyn, Peter and Gayle McCann, Duncan & Carmel McInnes, Don Muirhead, John and Vivienne Price and Paddy Ryan.

And a reminder: all class members are always welcome.

Queensland/Northern Rivers Get-together

On Friday 25 June, our group (currently 16 of us with partners), is having lunch at The Port Office Hotel in Brisbane City . Bob Shaw is coming from Cairns and we would like other Classmates in the area to break the shackles and come and enjoy an afternoon with us . If anyone else can make it please let Mac know: john.m.mcnamara@bigpond.com

Brisbane Gathering 26th February

A group of the Northern NSW and Southern Queensland Team gathered for the first lunch of the year on 26th February. We had a smaller than normal gathering with a number interstate and a couple with colds. It was our first get together without Callo and we missed his humour and booming contributions and it was wonderful to have Barb with us. The Reunion Email prompted some discussion and it was agreed that we are pleased to see The Canberra Chapter leading the way .
Until next time, Mates forever, John Mc

Class Get-together at Broadbeach

The South Queensland/Northern NSW class members got together on 30th October for an enjoyable lunch and catch-up at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. Thanks to Mac and Callo for organising it. We enjoyed seeing Kym McMillan from Canberra and Graham Huggins from the Gold Coast who joined the usual group. Hope to see you again Graham as we encourage all who were in our 1969 intake to be part of our group. We will publicise our next gathering and hope to see anyone who is visiting join us.

Best wishes to you all for Christmas and we hope 2021 will be a better year than this one.

Maurie
